Lydion-powered Data Networks enable teachers to productize traditional learning experiences at scale in the underdeveloped Indian market.

LOS ANGELES, December 7th, 2022 - The Data Economics Company (DECO), Swirl Music, and Cal CoachEd have announced a partnership between the three companies to develop a strategic and gamified Learning Management System (LMS) purpose-built to serve developing countries, codenamed Virtual School. Built on DECO’s Lydion Engine, providing an energy-efficient, cloud-based platform for distributed and varied access in Tier 1, 2, and 3 cities and towns, Virtual School also enables users to robustly track and use their own data. Along with the announcement, Virtual School will begin its first two pilot implementations with groups potentially servicing over 12,000 students.

The global digital learning industry is expected to reach US$374 billion by 2026, with the global LMS market alone projected to grow from $16.19 billion in 2022 to $40.95 billion by 2029. However, growth is impeded by challenges including LMS-based programs’ attention retention with students, data analysis of results for improvement, and the transition by teachers from traditional techniques to tech-enabled ones. Virtual School solves these challenges with its strategic and gamified content structure, individual and peer-group performance analysis, and programmatic content engine that enables teachers to transition traditional content into improved formats. By collecting data to measure improvement, Virtual School will allow better engagement for students, and better performance for teachers and help in structuring the market, especially in developing countries.

Critically for less developed markets, Virtual School will offer significant improvements in service and results at fractions of the current competitor costs. Charles Darling, COO at DECO, says; “Small organizations and educational institutions are inclining towards cloud-based deployment models, owing to its flexible pricing options. The ease of operation while connecting various applications and services is escalating the demand for the SaaS model. Cloud deployment establishes a robust, flexible, scalable, and secure infrastructure, which is anticipated to upsurge the market growth for learning management systems.”

Virtual School is currently demonstrating the ability to productize in-person curriculums through showcase programs run by its partners in SAT prep (Cal CoachEd) and Music literacy lessons (Swirl Music). In SAT prep, Cal CoachEd’s program has demonstrated an average 250 point test score increase versus competitor Khan Academy’s claimed 39 point increase.

The company is first set to prove these results in the Indian market. “India is the perfect market for this product due to its size, and the national obsession with university entrance tests and other competitive tests.” says Kunal Jiwarajka, founder of Cal CoachEd. “However, due to a lack of infrastructure, not all students can access good quality test preparation. We wish to bridge this gap with an affordable, high quality solution that will help democratize test prep across the entire country.”

“Music learning in the Indian market is even more disorganized with little to no infrastructure. Instead of seeing this as a problem, I see this as a tremendous opportunity to be a market leader and a trendsetter, and chance for students across the country to have access to the same knowledge, teaching, and platforms to perform” says Kunal Basu, Founder of Swirl Music, whos approach and philosophy of teaching music over 22 years has brought tremendous success.

The two pilot programs will be showcased through CalCoachEd’s students for SAT prep and with the students of Beacon High School in Mumbai in phase 1, and the Jindal Family of schools in phase 2, with access to over 12,000 students for music lessons.

Following the success of the pilots, Virtual School plans to more broadly market these showcase programs, expand the available offerings and access, and raise its first round of outside capital.

About DECO and the Lydion® Engine

The Data Economics Company’s mission is to pioneer and propagate the field of Data Economics by leading science and research; developing the mathematical, economic, and software frameworks and toolsets to power implementation; and continuing to advance commercialization of the Lydion® Engine. The Lydion® Engine, developed by DECO, is an operating system for decentralized applications. It powers secure, private Lydion Data Vaults that enable people and companies to package and productize their data as valuable digital assets called Lydions. With Lydion-based platforms and applications, users can control, utilize, share, transact, and monetize their Lydions over private networks without losing ownership or control of the underlying datasets.

About Cal CoachEd

Cal CoachEd’s mission is to empower students with a strategic approach to standardized tests. No one would be expected to do algebra, spelling, or grammar exercises without the proper instruction. In the same way, these standardized tests are not intuitive measures of intelligence, but highly-formatted diagnostics made up of inherent patterns and set within strict time constraints. Success requires prior knowledge of the material, strategies for pattern recognition and confidence, and shortcuts for timeliness. With the correct guidance from Cal CoachEd’s dynamic, engaged instructors, all students can succeed.

Cal CoachEd Founder Kunal Jiwarajka has carefully designed a curriculum based on decades of experience. His pride and joy is training students in specialized techniques that build stamina, and minimize fear of standardized tests. Once students begin to see results, they relax in the knowledge that there is no limit to what they can achieve through focus, strategy, and hard work.
